Misanthropy-on Sea

Living at the seaside, we never actually go To The Seaside. Until today, and I am not sure I like it. I felt duty bound this morning to visit Torbay Steam Fair, outside Brixham. The shopmobility volunteers had managed to get 15 scooters from the 3 shops up to the field, for use by visitors. The traffic was, of course, foul, but with the aid of various lanes, cut throughs and alleyways, we made it. Having blagged our way in to the steam fair(as the chairman of Shopmobility, (I shouldn't brag about such an obviously powerful and influential position;-) it wasnt too difficult to persuade them to let us in). All the scooters were in use, so it was a worthwhile exercise. The traction engines were magnificent, although there were some odd people there (sitting outside your caravan all weekend, displaying your tiny stationary steam engine? Seems odd to me).
After a brief tour, Mel wanted to meet her old friend, who was back home in Paignton, from her place in London, displaying her new boyfriend (of 7 weeks, 2 days, 15 hours etc etc). This meant meeting on Paignton seafront for Beer and Ice cream. Here they are on a brief outing from the shade.
Whether it is a good thing for all these people on the beach to be inviting skin cancer is not for me to say. I am sure they were all having a lovely time. Especially the bastards playing the bagpipes at the adjacent pub, and the crowd of semi naked young men shouting past us, intent on some chavvy blood-shedding in the near future.

.
And here is a picture of Torquay, from a safe distance. Looks lovely, doesnt it? We have to go there every day, so let us assume that burden from you. Not as bad as Dover, but trying it's best

See, you couldn't resist the beach either! Reminds me of home (Southport) except you can see the sea in your shots.

Incidentally you seem to find chavs wherever you go. Is that just Britain?
