With the dodgy state of our MG, we caught the train to Tivvy Parkway where mum picked us up. First port of call was the pub for coffee,

then off to Minehead to go on the steam train to Watchet (yet another thing mum would have done if she had been there with dad).

Minehead seems even more dire than Paignton, if such a thing was possible.
While waiting for the train back, we spotted this gathering of Shitehawks.

Today, we went up, in thick fog, to Wimbleball Lake

And this fellow really freaked me out. Suddenly I was in a movie and he was about to come to life. Fortunately, he didn't.

At first the lake was completely invisible, almost as if the water was the sky, but very suddenly the mist lifted, and there we were in glorious sunshine and scenery, with the dam and moorland and hills all around. Superb.
Just by the B&B is this bridge, and I can see why mum seemed so much happier: arranging and enjoying this herself, having to cope on her own for the first time in 50 years, since she was a teenager. I was so pleased for her. Her own mum died of grief a year after grandad died. Dad made her promise (she says, I am not sure he did, I think it was me)and so did I, that she wouldn't do the same. Making good progress.

That photo is breathtaking.
And good for your mum.
68 is the new 48!
Love, Trouty
Splendid! Couldn't ask for better :)
You are such a wonderful son. Your mother looks radiant and those pictures are absolutely breathtaking. I am so pleased that she is doing okay.
Oh my goodness gracious. That was me, Julianna.
flat stanley is a project for young children to learn about writing, history and geography. A little girl in South Carolina sent me her flat stanley so I started a blog for her. Although, thinking about it, flat stanley would love to be with you and your adventures! He would learn so much more with you!
geez! I need to remember to sign out, I suppose I am anonymous...
Much love,
Julianna
Yes the countryside is truly beautiful...but elsewhere try:-
1) Bodmin Moor, near the Jamaica Inn
2) The Weald from Ditchling Beacon, Sussex...
3) Glencoe
4) Ingleborough
5) Almost anywhere Wainwright wrote about
6) Snowdon (Yy Wyddfa)
6) thousands of other UK sites..
What sets your blog apart is...your Missus! Phwooar! (Sorry I'll try to get some treatment...)
Willow statues seem to be in the news. See Occombe Farm where it's a cow that stands chewing willow cud.
Nice shots sir!!!
I particularly like the last bridge one :]
