Everyone dispersed but we stayed locally, with my friend of 49 years up the road near Melton. They had a prior engagement but we met them later in a pub in Syston, where I briefly went to school in 1964. Having done a nostalgic wander (it's posher now, the school is a shopping centre, and it's all in colour),
we went into the pub and watched the band, Blueswamp Southern.
I had been warned that the guitarist was someone I had known from my second school (1965-68), and lo and behold it was. Obviously we didnt recognise each other, but that was soon overcome. I hadnt seen him for 42 years. I was rude to him about his motorbike (gay tractor Harley), and in return he showed me his guitar made from a cigar box.
I asked my friend about a mutual friend from the olden days, and he still knows him: he lives on a canal boat. I announced that I wanted to be this guy's lover so I could live on his boat and was warned to be careful what I wished for.
All in all, a most satisfactory day

Excellent all round. :)
I know of a canal boat for sale. Interested?
Ooooh, Andy, do it!
TROUTY SAYS:
Canal boats are to be recommended.
But don't forget that you'll have to black her bottom every three or four years.
Omally can tell you all about that!
Before you do the blacking you have to do the scraping! Don't use wall-paper scrapers... eh Trouty? ;-)
Happpy Birthday Aunty!
Did she blow out all the candles?!
I had to. All 3 of them!
I'd love a Harley, gift wrapped of course. Then I would sell it and buy a decent bike, like a Honda.
Congrats to your aunt on getting a card from Liz
