New and Old

Quite an eventful Friday: drove to Aylesbury to visit Mel's dad: he has just found out he has prostate cancer, but spirits are high (The back of my dad's head is in the video: he died of cancer two years ago this month). At least it explains the aches and pains he has been having for a couple of years. A pity it wasn't spotted sooner. Today, all five of his children turned up to visit, including Robbie from Scotland (who drove down overnight with his little boy, to surprise their dad), and I think he was rather pleased that they all made the effort.
While in his garden we were visited by a kite,

which circled around for ages. Apparently one of the most successful re-introductions anywhere. Kites eat carrion, and have a 6ft wingspan (I dont think they were after Gordon just yet). They are all over the shop in Aylesbury Vale and around.

Friday night was at Friars, the last night of phase 3 of this long-lasting club, where anybody who is anybody has played. The new theatre on the inner ring road doesnt seem interested in hosting Friars once the Civic Centre is knocked down. John Otway
supporting Paul Weller.
Who could ask for more? He even did a couple of Jam numbers. The age of the audience showed though: I only counted me and Chris pogoing, although there were signs of life elsewhere. Everybody is too busy photoing and videoing these days, which must be quite frustrating for the performer. I saw the Jam a mere 6 times back in the 70s.

Back home now for a week on my own as Mel has stayed up in Aylesbury to spend the week with her sisters and her dad. I hope I can behave all on my own.

My dad survived prostate cancer, so there is hope!
