Love Buns

We have a couple of friends who live up on the moor, where there is still snow, more than a week after the main event.

Two incidents of note during the heavy snowfall: apparently a neighbour was unable to progrees further up a lane, because a woman driver was stopped in the snow, with the boot open. When asked if she needed help, she replied "No thanks, I am making sandwiches". And at 01.30, our friends were woken by a knock at the door, by a group of people asking for help getting their vehicle out of the snow. When asked what they were doing out at 1.30 in the morning, they replied "we just came up here to see what it was like". Needlesstosay, when a friend with a 4x4 was summoned to help and get them down to the main road, they gratefully phoned at 4.30am to say they had got back to Brum OK. Oh how pleased was the 4x4 owner.
Being Valentine's Day, some sort of romantic activity was prepared. Apart from rating the awful 6 new flavours of Walkers Crisps (Walkers plan to produce one permanently: my advice is: Don't), the creation of "Love Buns" was chosen. A freshly baked cake, to be decorated for one's loved one.

I chose quantity over quality and piled mine high with sugar, metal, icing and chocolate (top right).

Being on Dartmoor, there are a magnificent number of small birds, constantly calling at the well stocked nut and seed dispensers. Robins (one of which comes into the kitchen if it's favourite food is in short supply), blackbirds, blue tits, chaffinches, nuthatches, coal tits, siskins. I said, "You have great tits, B" for which I received a well aimed potato.

The annoying thing about the walkers new crips is they dont come in multipakcs with a pack of each flavour. Richard and I have bough the onion baji and cajuan squirrel ones. Preferance is the onion bajis. Don't think either has alot of flavour really!
Love buns seems an excellent idea!

Hmmp! They did not do the courtesy of replying to my suggestion of wasp and buffalo flavoured crisp idea
