Easterlies

While parts of the country were wallowing in snow, we tended to just get the wind which, us being on the east side of Lyme Bay, was rather sharp and the sea got up a bit and it was bloody cold. Amazing how peaceful it was on the back beach, which looks down the estuary. This was the scene on the esplanade ("The Den")

It did snow in the end, but nothing to sledge in

Just enough to make it damned cold when the train didnt turn up at 5.02 tonight, nor the next one at 5.33, with nothing going down to Paignton to return to pick 50-odd passengers up. No idea what that was, but probably not the weather. Then it was seriously chilly, so I warned the waiting passengers to catch the bus (as a responsible Council Officer, and there is no PA system), summoned herself so she picked me up and we went home together in the car for once

A bit of the powdery white stuff (no not that kind) and the whole country comes to a standstill. Makes you wonder how the rest of Europe copes with proper snow doesn't it?
