My boss occasionally lets me attend the Regional Assembly Transport Technical Group, when he cant make it. Such a privilege to be among people who freely speak another language. If I attended more often, or was interested in these things, then I might know what was going on, but the people there, especially the RA officers, are in a different world, where things dont happen now but way in the future. "Pieces of work", "step changes", comprehensive business planning approach", "EDG and TOG", "the panel", "taking it forward" all have meanings that they know about and I don't.
The only compensation was that I got to sit opposite the very attractive Scandinavian woman who facilitates the meeting (mmmm Danish for Breakfast), and that I left dried mud all over the floor because I snook a geocache in, before the meeting started

You might not know what they are on about, but I certainly don't. What is the RATTG, what's it's purpose. More importantly, what positive influence do they have on our day to day lives (if I were to visit England).
Long term transport planning related to development and infrastructure. Regional Assemblies, for now, control massive amounts of funding from central government. The TTG conducts studies, provides technical data and justifies spending in particular areas in response to planned development eg 10 000 new homes in Torbay (true) will require investment in roads and railways to enable residents to access jobs and services. Shit. I do understand it.
A Cheeky Geocache whilst you are supposed to be working - Nice one - already planned which ones I'm bagging on the way back from business in derby
I know! I know what a TOG is! Waves hands!!
