I have been doing the managers job for 8 months now. My little team has been getting on with things, especially G and M and D and P who have achieved wonders. I and they go to the meetings and committees, do the reports, organise team meetings etc So I went for interview this week (these things do take time). Difficult being interviewed by friends/colleagues including the "executive head" of the department, that you have been working shoulder to shoulder with for years.
Today, my executive head of blah and blah who originally asked me if I wanted to be on the interview panel (interview my own boss? I dont think so) and wanted my name on the job advert for "informal chat", took me into his office to say that one of the applicants had been offered the job and turned it down. And then couldn't say who the second choice was. Well thanks for telling me. Obviously not me then. I suspect it is about time I was out of there.
I dont want the job anyway: anyone who knows about modern planning in Councils will know it takes a special type of person to entertain all the legislation without their head exploding. And as for the money we throw at consultants to deal with all this stuff (that is taxpayers money going for private profit, hundreds of thousands at a time). For the job I am going to turn down, even if offered as 2nd or 3rd choice, I will give you a flavour of what the guidance for the 3rd Local Transport Plan (announced yesterday) needs you (ie me) to take into account: Transport Act 2000, Local Transport Act 2008, LAA, SEA, HRA, AQAP, DDA, Cross Network Challenge, 5 national goals, Low carbon transport,Smarter Choices, TIF, CIF, CAA, RSS, Economic Development and Construction Bill/ LDF, RTS, RES, 2006 Local Government White Paper, NATA, NIS, MAAs, SCS, HIA, And finally FFS. I am outta here.
Took the pm off as G said I had to go home as I looked unwell, 4 times, he said it.

Careful mate, you're beginning to sound like me...
You're too good for 'em anyway.
Thoughtless scummers!
Damned idiots! Sorry.
Do you work for Byeville Council?
If so I'm not surprised at what is happening, they're treating you like they treat the people of the three towns.
I reckon this business of changing the name is to deflect attention from the two horrendous planning applications that have just gone in.
Non carburunum illigitmae!!
