Worst Late Western Again

FGW Fares Policy
"When the ticket office is closed or if you are travelling from an unstaffed station
In these circumstances, a selfservice ticket machine or Permit to
Travel machine should be working. In the unlikely event that it’s not, buy a ticket as soon as you can from staff on the train, or when you change trains. If you don’t have a ticket, or a Permit to Travel, and we believe you’ve had the opportunity to buy one, you may have to pay the full non-discounted fare, or a penalty fare if you are travelling within the penalty fares zone"
That seems fairly clear. What it doesn't say however, is that if you are travelling in the front two coaches, where the conductor never sets foot, is that you have to get off the train and travel in the rear two coaches of what are laughably called "Pacers". Just because FGW have chosen to use these non corridor 4 wheeled Buses, which they string together to form a 4 car train split into two because of the lack of a corridor connection, doesn't mean I have to travel in the rear two coaches, because how am I to know, as Johnny Customer, where the conductor will be? When a "member of staff" approaches me and insists I travel in the rear two coaches, so that I can buy a ticket (and it is all of £2.25 with my railcard), instead of being able to sell me a ticket himself, I can say I have approached YOU "member of staff" but you can't sell me a ticket because you aren't carrying a ticket machine yourself. It would be worth their while issuing this pompous ass of a member of staff to carry a ticket machine instead of pissing regular travellers off. I did my bit, and he was probably only their because I told FGW's man that they never collected tickets in the front of the train only last week anyway. The wonderful Worst Late Western should get their act together. Tosser.
