Rock and Roll

So. Pavarotti copped it. He was
magnificent. When I was young, my tutor took me to the West End to see
this 18 hours of Wagner's Ring Cycle in 4 sessions. Wonderful. I have great respect for it, but I couldnt listen to it casually. It isnt easy listening. I respect people who can listen to it, but the simpler rhythms of pop music are far easier to bear. The Ring Cycle also costs a packet to buy and it upsets the neighbours when you turn it up to the proper volume. Turn it up!

Years and years ago I had a tape of Pavarotti's Neapolitan Love Songs. The first track on the tape was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard..... but d'you think I can remember what it was called? No.
All I can remember is that one of the other tracks was called La Golondrina.
I've Googled to no avail. But I'm a rubbish Googler.
In recent years he wasn't quite so good but, at his peak, he really was the Maestro. RIP.

RIP, guess he is singing with the angels now.

I wouldn't call myself an opera fan but listening to him singing Nessun Dorma (thanks for the link) always made my hairs stand on end!
